AA meeting; Venue : Casa de Nico; Date : 20/5/06
Our normal AA [not Alcoholic Anonymous but Alcoholic Attendees] meeting weekend before last adjourned to nick's crib...no no not nick dell...nick intel whom we have christen 'nicky'....you know, to make it easy.. Nick & Nicky!
We decided to take our slightly pseudo spastic activities and hide it in a private venue to enable us to let go and just be full blown spastics. You see....we had charades planned so being spastic was supposed to be the order of the day.
This nite was actually planned a long time back while waiting for nicky's crib to be fully renovated...it was to be the 'pasta and canadian ice wine nite'. Nicky has been wanting to cook us some good pasta and ana has been wanting to drink nicky's ice wine. So finally after booking everyone's night of, we ticked 20/5/06 on our calendar to be 'the nite'.
Nick made really yummylicious Marinara...wait....lemme just show you how much planning went into this...
My dear Ana and Celyn,
When do you wanna visit my crib and savour my fine cooking? *ahem*. (Actually the wine is meant for u to forget how bad the dinner is… haha)
As with most chefs, you need to provide minimum 2-3 days notice in order for the Chef to get the freshest seafood direct from the market.
When?
5th 6th 7th or 12th 13th 14th May? – Please set a date in advance if possible so I can slot other events into my other slots. (The joys of being single)
Time?
7pm onwards? Please specify your preference. Coming early to do your own experiments in the kitchen is welcome.
Menu
Pasta - Penne, Rotini or Spaghetti (my personal preference is Rotini) Marinara – Prawns & Squid, olive oil, garlic, onions, tomatoes
Cabernet Shiraz and Canadian Ice Wine (which I have prevented many from taking just because of Ana) or Chivas if you are not a member of AA
Others
You may use the equipped kitchen if you wish to do something – include built in Oven, Microwave, Steamer, Electric Chopper, Coffee Machine, etc
I just don’t have a cake mixer :p
You may sleep over if you wish. Bring your stuff just in case if you are not sure (if you get too pissed to drive home)
Being a bachelor crib my place can accommodate up to 3 guests for dinner. However after dinner if you have other Guest who wanna drop by please feel free to let me know. Living room sits 8-10 comfortably.
Which among the following 3 pastas do you prefer?
Penne - Mostaccioli ("Quills" and "Small Mustaches," respectively) - Short, hollow tubes that are cut diagonally. Penne rigate have ribbed surfaces, while penne lisce are smooth. These can go with a wide range of sauces, from meat to cheese to those with vinaigrette bases.strong>
Rotini ("Spirals" or "Twists") - Rotini's twisted shape holds bits of meat, vegetables and cheese, so it works well with any sauce, or you can use it to create fun salads, baked casseroles, or stir-fry meals.
Spaghetti: ("A Length of Cord") Match with meaty tomato, creamy seafood, broth or olive oil-based sauces. The earthy flavor and rough texture of whole-wheat or spelt spaghetti pair well with delicate sauces, olive oil or broth-based sauces, herbs and fresh vegetables.
Regards,
Nicholas
hahha...actually wasnt much planning but i reckon - some people who work at intel has TOO MUCH TIME ON THEIR HANDS. heheh
Anyway...with a couple replies and yet another organised email from Nicky with address and instructions for parking etc etc...we finalised the night.
We didnt play charades as planned....but getting drunk went accordingly....and we played that game.."I have...., HAVE you?" and if you havent done what the other person has....* tah dah * then you drink. Its amazing how much you can find out bout your frens through a game like this...and get drunk at the same time ;p
Anyway...after my supa dupa long 'talk talk talk' bit, finally here are a few photos for your delight. Sorry there arent more but you know....drunks cant always be a multitasker.
